I am trying to locate a corded "flip phone" for a friend who had one in high school in the early 80's. Any ideas where I could purchase this equipment?

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. I've had my eye out for these phones for a while now, but they don't really make them anymore. The only corded flip phone I know of is a sponge bob character phone.
