By any chance, do you have a wireless router in your home? Wireless routers tend to interfere with 2.4 GHz phones. If you're looking for something similar, get a 5.8 GHz phone.
Curious what the difference is between all these bandwidths?
You wouldn't be the first. A lot of people ask what's the big difference between 5.8 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz cordless phones.
Because the 2.4 GHz & 5.8 GHz bandwidth are less impacted, they have less problems being picked up by your neighbor's phones or interfering with other cordless devices (such as baby monitors). This is the original reason the FCC opened the 2.4 GHz bandwidth for cordless phones. 2.4 & 5.8 GHz phones also tend to incorporate additional security enhancements for privacy-consccious customers as well as other hi-tech features.
It turns out, however, that wireless networks interfere with 2.4 GHz cordless phones (since they share a similar bandwith). That's why 5.8 GHz phones have become the new, new hi-tech bandwidth.
To sum it up, 2.4 and 5.8 GHz phones tend to include extra security enhancements, such as digital encoding and frequency hoping, and use a less impacted bandwidth (you are MUCH less likely to share the same bandwith with other devices, including your neighbor's phones).
900 MHz cordless phones, on the other hand, tend to be much cheaper and get the job done for most purposes. |
